Bipolar Boot Camp, Part One: Dispelling the Myth

Bipolar Boot Camp?

Sounds a little extreme doesn't it?

Well bipolar is a mental disorder of extremes, so a boot camp series seemed fitting.

Talking about depression without talking about some of the other mood disorders (which all include some depression) wouldn't be right.

Bipolar disorder is difficult to diagnose. Many, myself included, will go for years being treated for unipolar depression before the bipolar revelation is made. Hopefully, after going through this boot camp that won't be you.

Bipolar and Rottweiler dogs - what do they have in common? Bipolar disorder gets a bad rap, kind of like Rottweiler dogs. People hear the extreme stories and automatically assume that every Rottweiler is the same or that everyone with bipolar is a maniac.

Bipolar is a more colourful mental disorder than plain old depression. Because there is an occasional upside (which is actually more dangerous than the downside) there is a lot of creativity and productivity that can occur. Many famous artists are bipolar. And so there are a lot of bipolar characters depicted in movies. They make for entertaining plots.

What most people don't know however is that depression is still the most dominating symptom of bipolar.

This blog is designed to reach out to anyone who experiences any kind of depression for any kind of reason. But it seemed time to focus on bipolar, just for a little while.

Get your boots on and prepare to march through the information. There might be some illumination along the way which will pertain to your own struggle.

Your going to need some guidance for this boot camp experience so next time I will give you a treasure map to help you along the way.

WHAT ABOUT YOU? How are you feeling today? Do you know much about bipolar? Are you ready to learn?

Don't give up! There is hope, there is always hope.
