Hope for Depression: Part 1

Hope for depression, really? But isn't this the illness of hopelessness? Not anymore.

Do you live here? I found this on the internet. It must be interesting to live in a place called 'Hope'. Better than living somewhere called 'Hopeless' right?

This next series is called 'Depression and Hope'. There is hope for depression. If you are not doing well right now you might be thinking that I really don't know how depressed people think, but I do.

This might be kind of fun! Why? Depression is an illness that could easily be renamed ‘hopelessness’ because that is how most of us feel when we are depressed – hopeless.

Yet that very thing that we feel we lack - hope – is the very thing that we need to get us through. Let’s face it, no matter who we are or what we are going through, hope is necessary for us all.

“Once you choose hope, anything’s possible”.

Who said that? Christopher Reeves. Now there was someone who held onto hope in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
That is what we must do too.

Hold onto hope.

It sounds as though Dale Carnegie must have been describing Christopher Reeves and others like him when he said “Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.”

You might be saying “this is easier said than done Wendy” and you are right. But what choice do we have? Besides, to have hope is as natural as sneezing or laughing or crying.

Okay, so you probably agree with me so far, that we all need hope. Now you are probably wondering just how are you going to get some. Come back and find out.

WHAT ABOUT YOU? How are you feeling today? Do you have hope? Or does it all seem pointless to you? Are you ready to learn how to get hope and hang onto it?

Don't give up! There is hope for depression.
